Description
Antique Arts and Crafts Verdigris Crackle Field Tiles–37-Lot–Louisville KY c.1912
This is a collection of 37 salvaged 6×3-inch field tiles in a gorgeous matte verdigris (green) crackle glaze, pulled from a Louisville, KY home built in 1912. The style and construction point squarely to the American Arts and Crafts movement–thick-bodied, hand-finished, and built to be seen.
Each tile is roughly 6 inches by 3 inches and about 3/8-inch thick. The glaze is a rich, muted green with a natural crackle pattern that varies tile to tile–some show more crazing, others are smoother, and a few have minor edge chips, mortar residue, or kiln marks that are entirely typical of period production. These are working architectural tiles, not display pieces–they were made to clad a fireplace or wall and that is exactly what they did for over a century.
The lot is being sold as-is. Condition varies across the set, but the overall impression is strong: deep green glaze, solid structural integrity, and real character. A set this size in a single colorway from one salvage site is uncommon. Perfect for a fireplace restoration, accent wall, or Arts and Crafts interior project.
I will include a few extra tiles that are slightly damaged. Combined shipping available on other tile listings.
