Decorative cast iron for the hearth that stands empty half the year.

When the fires went out for the season, a cast-iron summer cover closed the firebox against soot, draft, and the dark of an empty grate — and turned a cold hearth into something worth looking at. Cast in deep relief with figures, foliage, and flowing Art Nouveau line, these pieces were as ornamental as they were practical, and the best of them are sculpture in their own right.

Set one into a working or purely decorative fireplace, lean one against the wall as a standing object, or hang one as relief art. Each is original, with the surface and patina of its age — honest iron, not reproduction.
