From Salvage to Storybook
What began as a personal love of antique architectural tile—glazes, history, and craftsmanship—grew into something bigger. Relic Asylum is a carefully curated collection of salvaged American tile: fireplace surrounds, hearths, field tile sets, pictorial panels, and individual art tiles from the makers who defined an era of American decorative arts.
We specialize in tiles from the great American tile companies—AETCO, Cambridge, Hamilton, Trent, USETCO, Rookwood, Pewabic, J. and J.G. Low—as well as fine European makers like Boulenger and Cie, T. and R. Boote, and others. Every piece is hand-selected for its artistic merit, historical significance, and condition.
Based in Cincinnati, Ohio — a city with deep roots in the American ceramics tradition — Relic Asylum is a place where these tiles find new life, whether in a restoration project, a collector’s home, or a museum.
