Geometric floor tile, encaustic shapes, and period fragments by the piece and the small lot.
Encaustic and geometric floor tiles were laid in the entryways, vestibules, and hearths of Victorian and turn-of-the-century homes — patterns built from triangles, hexagons, diamonds, and squares in unglazed clay colors that wear beautifully and never fade, because the color runs through the body of the tile rather than sitting on its surface.
These pieces are sold individually and in small lots, ideal for restoration work where a few originals will complete or repair an existing floor, and equally at home in new work — a border, a medallion, a small accent panel that brings genuine age into a modern room. Sizes and quantities vary; each is original and period.
