Antique AETCO Alhambra Hearth Mosaic (28-Tile)

$1,650.00

Description

A rare and architecturally significant set of 28 antique fireplace tiles made by the American Encaustic Tile Company (AETCO), circa 1895–1905. The set forms a full modular hearth mosaic, designed to repeat in four central floral-star patterns framed by coordinated borders. Each tile measures 6 x 6 inches and was originally installed in a historic Colorado hotel. The Alhambra-style design reflects the geometric influence of Moorish revival patterns popular in American floor tilework at the turn of the century.

Color & Glaze: muted gray, parchment cream, slate blue, and a touch of pale moss in a soft matte vitrified glaze. Condition: salvaged by hand and structurally sound; many have chipped edges or surface wear typical of historic floor use, but the layout remains fully legible and cohesive once installed. Set includes 28 modular 6 x 6 vitrified tiles, 4 complete center motifs plus border tiles; total layout approx. 42 wide x 28 tall.
