A field of caramel smoke, flickering and alive — this early American Encaustic Tile Company (AETCO) set carries that unmistakable 1890s glaze alchemy: swirling cocoa, pale cream, and soft ash drifting across every surface. Each tile feels like a small study in fire and slip — feathered, tonal, and deeply old.

Salvaged from a Columbus, Ohio source. Classic late-19th-century AETCO markers: thin-bodied clay, crisp presses, irregular glaze pooling, and natural crazing. Tile count: 49 tiles 1.5 x 3 in; 16 tiles 1.5 x 1.5 in; total 65 tiles. Condition: authentic salvage with light edge wear, occasional micro-chips, and natural crazing; overall excellent for its era.
