Antique AETCO Flame Green Field Tiles — Verdigris & Burnt Amber
$2,500.00
Description
A rare cache of antique fireplace tiles, marked American Encaustic Tile Company (AETCO), c. 1890s–1910. These are no ordinary field tiles: each one is a canvas of molten green veined with ribbons of burnt amber, ember-red, and coppery bronze. The glaze ripples with movement, flickering between earth and fire, like light catching across a verdigris patina.
Together they form enough surface to complete an extra-large surround, with scale and depth that make the glaze read like an architectural mural. Rectangular field tiles (larger scale than typical surround sets); flame green with molten amber and ember-red movement; salvaged, vivid glaze intact with natural age variation. This is the flame glaze at its most intense, unbroken by borders — the architectural freedom to design boldly.
