Antique AETCO Hearth Set — Zanesville Manor, Jade Mineral Green, c.1890

$1,650.00

Description

A striking late-19th-century hearth set by the American Encaustic Tile Company, salvaged from a historic Zanesville, Ohio manor — the same property that yielded the celebrated AETCO pictorial The Frog’s Wedding. The tiles are unified by a rare jade-like mineral green, quietly saturated with subtle tonal variation, reading closer to carved stone than glaze — seldom encountered in American encaustic tile. Configured as a 48 x 16 in hearth, approximately 6.5 square feet: an extensive run of 1½ x 3 in field tiles, 3 x 6 in subways, 3 x 3 in tiles, and triangular transitions. Cohesive architectural material from a single historic installation.
