A four-tile sunburst medallion pressed by the United States Encaustic Tile Company (USETCO) in the late 19th century, designed to radiate with sculptural clarity from a crisp geometric center. The glaze is a rare early American blend we call Plumfield — an atmospheric mixture of ash rose, burnt plum, and cocoa dust, marbled across the surface with fine craquelure. Each 6-inch tile joins the others in precise symmetry to form a dramatic 12-inch centerpiece — ideal for a fireplace header, stair riser, or architectural wall niche.
