Antique Victorian Polychrome Floral Transfer Tiles — Gilt Border Pair, 6×6

Description

A pair of Victorian polychrome transfer-print tiles, c. 1880–1895, each showing a floral bouquet of plum-pink blossoms and green foliage within a rich gilt-brown scrollwork border. The outlines were transfer-printed, then hand-tinted in enamel washes, giving each tile a painterly variation. Staffordshire, England; 6 x 6 in each; fine overall crazing and expected edge wear; enamels vibrant, borders crisp; clean backs with grid press marks.
